ACW Tour day 5-Appomattox Court House & Lynchburg

Appomattox Court House (2 words means town 1 word means Courthouse ) is beautifully preserved with a small visitor centre and gift shop ,the McLean House where the surrender took place ,the Courthouse ,county Jail and tavern amongst others are open to visitors .
At the top of the ridge is where Custer met the Rebels and most of the fighting took place

Lafayette Meeks Grave

Lafayette left appotomattox to join the army ,but never fought he died of  Typhoid and was returned home 

The Tavern

The printing press set up in the tavern to print passes for the surrendering troops




Lynchburg was a major hospital and supply centre for the confederates .today it is very run down but the confederate cemetary is well looked after
